The sacrament of Reconciliation is a special sacrament in which one feels the Father's mercy and forgiveness. It renews our love for God and others.
It calls one to look into one's heart to see what comes in the way of a full relationship with God. We come to the sacrament in our own humility as we admit the wrongs we have said and actions done against others. It calls us to conversion, to change our ways, in order to better our friendships both with God and others. Through the celebration of the sacrament, we feel the loving mercy and healing forgiveness of God. Being freed of sin, we grow closer in our relationship not only with God, but also with others.
There is a preparation course, in which children in at least grade two, are required to partake. Using the book, We Prepare for Reconciliation, this course will allow your child to understand the parts of confession, including terms, prayers and concepts.
There is also a Family Guide to assist parents in teaching your child and giving you practical suggestions of how to make the celebration of First Reconciliation a more realistic presence of Jesus' love in your child's life.
The course is approximately five consecutive weeks long. The celebration of First Reconciliation takes place in mid December.
To enroll your child, please fill in the registration form and email it to the parish, [email protected], or call the parish office, 705-949-8883.
