"The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has appointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." (Isaiah 61..1-2)
Confirmation is the last of the three sacraments of initiation. Confirmation strenghthens and celebrates the presence of the Holy Spirit in one's life. It renews the Spirit's presence so that you can live out your baptismal call to share God's life with others. This sacrament affirms the fact that you are an important, Spirit-filled member of the Church community.
There is a preparation course, in which children in grades seven and eight are required to participate. This course will allow your child to understand the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, signs and symbols of Confirmation as well as key terms, prayers and concepts. They will also perform a service project to better understand how the Holy Spirit acts in their lives while living the Gospel message of Jesus in their daily lives.
You can assist your child in preparation for this sacrament by taking part in the preparation course along with your child. The course is approximately six consecutive weeks long including a retreat. The celebration of the sacrament takes place in November.
To enroll your child fill in the registration form and email to the parish, [email protected], or call the parish office, 705-949-8883.
By accepting this responsibility, your child is becoming responsible for their faith journey as they make their own Christian commitment.
